Lawn care was my pandemic passion project.
I spent the early hours of lockdown 2020 watching hundreds of youtube videos from lawn care experts and seasoned DIY amateurs. I read blogs and commented on forums and learned all sorts of best practices for growing and maintaining a healthy, midwest lawn.
That summer and fall, I started putting things into practice on my own lawn, and was able to totally transform it — from a patchwork of different grasses, assorted weeds and frequent brown patches — into a lush, beautiful lawn that not only looks great, but also functions well as a safe, healthy space for my dog and daughter to play.
I also didn’t want lawn maintenance to totally take over my life, so I figured out ways to grow a lawn that was low maintenance, resilient and hassle free.
I enjoyed the process and my results so much, that now I want to do the same for my neighbors.
I have seen neighbors attempt similar lawn makeover projects with larger, busier landscaping companies, but those landscapers often want to throw seed down and say “call me next season” — not giving their lawn renovation projects the attention and follow up care they need to be truly successful.
That’s where I saw an opportunity for creating my own lawn renovation business — one that’s hyper local and only takes on a few customers per season, so I can give each lawn the attention I’d give my own, and guarantee you’ll be happy with the results.
That’s why I started Lyman Lawns — to help my neighbors transform their lawns, and make our community a more lush, healthy place to live.
